4 Things You Need When Attending the US Air Force Basic Training Graduation

Posted on

When your son or daughter decides to enlist in the United States Air Force, your family must prepare for a whole new adventure. One step in this amazing journey is the graduation ceremony that takes place when your son or daughter completes the Basic Training Program. What will you need when you attend the graduation ceremony? Here, you'll get a few ideas of what you'll need during that wonderful four-day event.

1. Custom Design T-Shirts

Your son or daughter will know well before graduation what Heritage Flight they are in. The Airmen are grouped together not in the groups that they've worked with to complete Basic Training, but instead, they'll be grouped with other Airmen preparing to enter training for the same career fields.

Once you know what Heritage Flight your trainee is in, you can have custom shirts made to include your trainee's name, the date of graduation, and the name and logo of the Heritage Flight group he or she is in. You can get these locally madeby a print shop, such as Ultra Screen Prints.

Having  your family dressed in similar shirts of the same color with your trainee's name on it will help you find each other and even could help your trainee find you in the stands during the ceremony.

2. Binoculars

You have to remember that there are many trainees graduating with your son or daughter. All of them have been given the same haircuts, wear the same uniforms, and even wear the same style of glasses. This can make it impossible to find who you're looking for in the field of uniforms.

3.Black Umbrella

When you're sitting in the stands during both the Coining Ceremony and the Graduation, you need to be prepared for not only the wet weather that can come out of nowhere but also the sun that comes up intensely hot in Texas. The umbrella will come in handy blocking the sun and the rain, and it will allow you to just take in everything that is going on around you.

4. Comfortable Shoes

Be prepared to do a lot of walking. The base is quite large and in some cases, it can be easier to get from one location to another by foot. Between everything that is going on around the base during the days that you're allowed to share your time there and the things that you'll be doing on the days in which your trainee is allowed to venture off-base, your feet will kill you if you aren't prepared with a very comfortable pair of shoes.

Start the planning process today. Soon, you'll be sitting in the stands just waiting for the moment in which you get to tap your trainee out of formation and get the hug that you have been longing for.
